dùsal are proud to be members of the European Down and Feather Association. The EDFA represents the interests of the feather-filling industry and are committed to defending consumer interests and animal welfare.
As a member company of the EDFA, dùsal are committed to a documented traceability system and a code of conduct and, according to this, down and feathers used in our products are sourced responsibly and in-accordance with best practices in animal husbandry.
We appreciate that all of our trade customers have their own sustainability, welfare and environmental standards, and by sourcing all of our materials as ethically as possible we can help them deliver on their word.
Our manufacturing operations are designed to ensure that all of the natural down and feather fillings are as fresh as possible. Ideally, this means that the natural fillings we hold in pre-production stock are used within one month.
Just as we manufacture to order, so we in turn order these natural fillings from our European suppliers thereby ensuring we are only ever using pure, fresh fillings.
All of the feathers and down in our duvets, pillows and mattress toppers undergoes a rigorous cleaning process before arriving with us. We will only accept down and feathers which have passed stringent turbidity testing, a process which helps determine if dust or dirt (organic and inorganic) is present.
Samples of the material are soaked and agitated in pure water, which is then measured for clarity. European standards require a result of at least 300mm - at dùsal we will only accept a minimum standard of 500mm.
